blog carousel – buffalo ny photographer

March 25th, 2012

Oh I am so glad to have some time in the schedule to catch up with my lovely photographer friends and do a blog carousel again! This month the theme is “macro”. Macro photography is close-up photography. I love using my macro lens with newborns to catch their tiny details and with floral images.

This month I really wanted to capture spring and flowers but. . .of course the tulips haven’t opened in my garden yet. So (on the advice of my husband believe it or not!) I chose to document both the old and new life that is budding in our garden. For these images I kept the frame the same, just switching focus points to focus on the old hydrangeas that have held out all through winter and the new buds that are getting ready to bloom. I love my hydrangeas, they are lime green and GORGEOUS when they do bloom, plus they bloom all summer into fall. . .so I am really excited to see all of the new buds.

Please take a moment to go check out Atlanta Baby & Child Photographer, Corey Sewell and see what she captured close up, macro style. Be sure to then click through and make the rounds on the blog carousel as well!

God’s Newest Angel

February 19th, 2012

It is through many tears and a heavy heart that I write this post. The gorgeous Anna Rose has lost her battle to AT/RT brain cancer and has gone on to peacefully live in the loving arms of God. As her father stated today, “She will always be loved, for her smiles, giggles and snacking habits.” As you can see her smile absolutely lit up a room and she loved her snacks. She loved her Mom & Dad more than anything and she stole the hearts of so many.

If you would like to leave a message for the family, the Facebook page for Anna is https://www.facebook.com/weloveannarose

happy birthday anna – buffalo ny photographer

February 6th, 2012

Happy Birthday Anna! I couldn’t have had a better day yesterday seeing sweet Anna and celebrating her birthday with her. For those who don’t know, Anna is the bravest, most beautiful little cancer fighter there is. She was diagnosed with an AT/RT brain tumor just before her first birthday last year.

To read more about Anna please visit https://www.facebook.com/weloveannarose < --- click there!

blog carousel – alternative cameras – buffalo ny child family baby photographer

January 22nd, 2012

Wow it has been way too long since I have participated in one of these awesome blog carousels! This month the theme is “alternative cameras” – which for me means the use of my iphone 4 as my camera. I use it for documenting everyday life in my family – it is always in my pocket and readily available – which with 5 small kiddos and the constant running around is a necessity. In fact up until this past Christmas, I didn’t even own a point and shoot camera (I did finally purchase a Canon S95 and love it!).

If I just counted correctly I have 21, yes 21, camera apps on my iphone 4. I have linked each of the apps I mention below to the app store for easy finding, just click on the app name!

This first one with the sunset – is from using the app Snapseed and then the image below is is from opening the same picture into a fun app called Percolator.

Like I said I love capturing just everyday moments with my iphone. The morning light in my bedroom with the baby, an afternoon playing outside on bikes (in January. . . .in Buffalo I may add!), and a quiet moment with two of my boys laughing on the couch together. The apps used here are Snapseed and Hipstamatic.

I love taking photos of me with my kids with the iphone too and they (usually) think it is a blast. Of course – the furry members of our family are never excluded in the picture taking process either. . .Ben the Boston and the new addition, Ellie the Goldendoodle. Ben LOVES to pull his bed to wherever the sunlight is, I really love that photo because it is so him. We just picked up Ellie on Friday so this was her first photo at home – then me and the little man hanging out and my daughter and myself at her first concert. Apps used – Shake It Photo, Camera+ and Snapseed.

Please now take a ride on over to my friend Julie Tauro, Kitchener Waterloo child and family photographer‘s website and see how she interpreted this great theme!

elf on the shelf – buffalo ny family photographer

December 5th, 2011

I LOVE the Elf on the Shelf. I am going to try to remember to take a picture of him each day between now and Christmas Eve to share. This is from last night, but we have also done hanging from the chandelier with friends (aka stuffed animals), on a wreath at the front door, taking a bath in the shower (wrapped up in a towel of course) and also he baked cookies for breakfast. So. Much. Fun.
