Well – its the time of the year when I get to thank each and every one of my friends, clients and family for an amazing year. I have been so blessed this year both with SH Portraits and my family’s personal life. We have four amazing children (you’ll see them last in the slideshow) who are doing great in school and keep us laughing, guessing and just wondering every single day. I am sure you can all relate as well! With SH Portraits I was blessed to see familiar faces grow up, be a part of new families lives and even had the opportunity to travel to Washington DC to photograph and meet the President. I have had the chance this year to share my love of photography doing a PPA (Professional Photographers of America) presentation on newborn photography and I have had the honor of winning a few small awards. It has been an AMAZING year and I have each and every one of you to thank for it. That being said – please take a few minutes, grab a cup of coffee (or tea, or hot cocoa) and possibly a tissue or two and watch my year end video. You may even see your family’s face and remember your special moment with me this year. So thank you again for being a part of my life and allowing me to share in yours. ~ Samara

This is the incredibly beautiful little sister of an incredibly handsome little man – and of course daughter to a pair of great clients! I met this family with her little brother was born and now here we are nearly 2 years later photographing her and welcoming her into this world. I just love photographing newborns (as you all know) and I really enjoy it in the presence of such great company. Thank you E. family for having me to your home again – I look forward to watching your family grow!

I have to admit – my heart skipped a beat when I saw this little one last night. She is just beautiful and I am in love with her big brown eyes. I think they have so much soul and light to them. I had a great time watching her explore and show me what she is all about. Her inquisitive personality kept me on my toes and we came away with great images. Thanks again Mom – I look forward to showing you the complete gallery soon!

You may notice a slight change when you visit SH Portraits. . .my brand new LOGO! It has been a long time coming and I am happy to say I finally have bit the bullet and had something custom designed that I feel really fits my style of children’s portrait photography. It is fun and whimsical yet still has that great classic feel to it too. I’m still the same children’s photographer that you all know and love to work with, just with a new look! I will be leaving for vacation next week, but like the crazy person I am I fit as much into my schedule as possible. So if you do not want to wait till the end of August for your summer session, book NOW for one of two evening sessions next week. Or book now for a session in the end of August. Also please keep in mind that my fall schedule books very quickly, especially for weekends and I am already booking in October for outdoor fall portraits and your family holiday cards. Please considering booking early this year, the cut off for holiday orders will be November 15th. I can’t wait to see all of my old friends and meet some new ones too!

I waited a long time to meet this little guy! Last summer I was on maternity leave so I didn’t have the chance to do his newborn photos then finally this summer we try to meet and the weather was not in our favor. . .three times! Really what are the chances right! Well good things definately come to those who wait and little N. here was no exception. He was a joy to photograph and his parents are pretty great too (of course!). I hope you enjoy this preview – I’ll be in touch soon with your full gallery!

This little guy was so sweet and a fun age think I think often gets missed, 3-4 months old. I like seeing their little personalities beginning to emerge and sometimes we can even capture some peaceful sleeping portraits too. I had a lovely time with him and Mom, enjoy your preview! I hope you had great afternoon relaxing out on the boat after working so hard at the session!

I had the amazing opportunity last week to join my friend and collegue Ruthi David to photograph an event for the DNC with President Obama as the keynote speaker. It was great night and I know many friends and readers have been waiting to see the images from the event. So in this first post are a few random room shots with Senators, centerpieces, COS Rhem Emmanuel and jazz singer Diana Krall. President Obama will receive is own post next!

I had the wonderful opportunity to be an assistant photograph to my friend Ruthi David of R. David Original Photography  (View Ruthi’s Portrait Site Here) last night at a fundraising event for the DNC.  Our President, Barack Obama was the keynote speaker for the event and it was A-MAZING.   My mother phoned me earlier today to tell me that she saw this picture in the NY Times this morning.  So there I am in the background, looking serious because I was working at the time, getting some meet & greet images of The President with guests of the event.  Soon after this, he turned towards me and I was able to shake his hand. Truly remarkable moment. I’ll never forget it!  (NY Times photo is by Jewel Samad/Agence France-Presse — Getty Images) I will show some images from the event in about a week when everything is done being edited, there are a lot of images to go through!\
