It is time to get this blog rolling again so keep your eyes peeled over the next few weeks! I’ll have special posts a few days each week from a little peek into my crazy life with 5 kids, to trends, fun things, flashback Fridays (keep an eye out for your previous session receiving a special post and win a little gift!). Make sure to follow along!

So to start off today. . .here is a little look into my life the past few weeks, Instagram style. The truth is that I rarely have my professional gear with me unless it is something really special. I always have my iPhone with me though!

We had some gorgeous weather which meant trips to the park, digging for worms and just playing around outside. We have a puppy – his name is Bentley! The little red shoes, taken by my toddler, he has a habit of highjacking my phone. My son got to do a hockey clinic at First Niagara Center, which was huge since he is a big Sabres fan! hen of course we had some crazy weather too and a storm. I loved the way the rain looked in the headlights of the cars. I have an enclosed porch on my house, it is a great place to sit and watch lightning. I’m crazy like that!

what’s coming . . . fan fridays! l buffalo ny portrait photography child baby maternity family photographer

July 23rd, 2010

I love my clients, I love my fans and I love photographing everyone! My schedule is INSANE the next few weeks before I take some time off to have a baby – but please do call anyway. I am pretty much working everyday of the week to get everyone in!

Since I love you all SO much – starting next Friday and every Friday through August 20th I am going to have “Fan Fridays” here on the blog.

Here’s the deal. I will post an image on those days from the past, of my kids, of your kids, of anything. Tell me why you love the image and why you would love a gift certificate with SH Portraits. I’ll then use a number generator to determine a winner the following day. The gift certificate amounts will change each week from $50 up to an entire session fee. So you will always want to check in and post each week.

It’s gonna be fun folks!

coming soon l buffalo child photographer

April 11th, 2010

I have a few things up my sleeve for the blog here to keep things fun and moving – so keep an eye out this coming week. ESPECIALLY on Wednesdays. Here’s a hint – if your child’s photo pops up on Wednesday on the blog and you see it – you will get something special from me. More details to come this Wednesday. . .but keep in mind you won’t be notified of your kiddos picture so you’ll have to keep looking!

On another note – as we are quickly approaching the summer weather here in Buffalo my schedule is filling fast. Beginning May 1st I will be opening up Wednesday evenings for outdoor sessions and continue my Wacky Wednesday special from last year (it was a huge hit!). The Wacky Wednesday sessions will be $99 (a savings of over $50 on your session fee) and must take place outdoors at a park within the Buffalo area. Choose from a list or suggest one to me. I will begin booking these sessions this week for May through July! Contact me for more details!

February 16th, 2010

This little beauty rounded out my weekend of newborns and I was so glad she did. Isn’t she so sweet?! I got to do lots with her and although she protested a teeny bit, I won (I usually do. . .I have lots of patience). And really how perfect is the one image with the brown and turquoise – just like my logo. . .hmmm maybe we have a new face for SH Portraits! So glad to have met her family and had fun conversation while capturing these very special moments. I can’t wait to share your entire gallery with you soon! ~ Samara

On year old boys are fast. They also love to do anything and everything possible to get themseleves dirty – and this little guy was no exception! Most importantly he was a joy to work with and so happy!! I had a great time visiting with him, Mom & Dad again. It always remains amazing to me how much babies change in just a few short months! Monkey See Monkey Do Children’s Bookstore l Business Spotlight

June 12th, 2009

Monkey See Monkey Do Children's BooksotreI am so very excited and proud to introduce everyone here to Kim Krug the owner of Monkey See Monkey Do Children’s Bookstore. Tomorrow is the GRAND OPENING please be sure to come by and check it out. There will be lots of FREE events all day for adults and children, you don’t want to miss it. I will also be there from 10 till about 1 unveiling my 2 summer mini session dates and details. You certainly do not want to miss out on those either. . .lets just say its definately the best deal YET!

Without further delay. . .Monkey See Monkey Do & Kim Krug!

So tell us a little bit about “Monkey See Monkey Do” for those readers not familiar with it yet.
Monkey See, Monkey Do is a new, independent children’s bookstore. Our mission is to foster a love of reading, spark curiosity and imagination, encourage independent thinking and promote healthy, active lifestyles for children of all ages!

Its fun-filled setting provides a learning adventure for all! From babies to young adults, parents and grandparents, we strive to select thoughtful books. I love our tagline….the little bookstore with BIG ideas because it’s what we are all about. It’s not just a place to buy books and leave – I want to provide an interactive experience where we read, learn, grow and share in this development as a community.

What about your job do you like most?
Being able to connect with people through literature and creative programming. Sharing a passion of learning with children, families and young adults. It is truly rewarding to provide a service to our community in which we can all behalf. Through our little store, I hope to inspire children and provide opportunities in reading to those less fortunate.

How did you get started?
Desire. I had a strong desire, after having three little ones of our own, to open a children’s business that provided families a place to connect, learn and grow. I wanted to share with our own children a love of reading and learning creatively and the importance of finding your own purpose and following your dreams.

What are your favorite children’s books?
Absolute favorite: CURIOUS GEORGE! I loved monkeys….and still do. I love how playful, mischievous and inquisitive George was in all of his many adventures….
Tell us a bit more about why reading is so important with children!
I believe it’s a wonderful way to connect with our children – reading books together. For children, it opens their mind and imagination. One of my favorite quotes (which you will find in the store) is by Jane Evershed:

“To read is to empower To empower is to write
To write is to influence
To Influence is to change
To change is to live. “

Where can we find you (website, blog, location)?
You can find me monkeying around at our beautiful new home – 9060 Main Street, Clarence NY 14031. Our website address is MonkeysRead.com and I am on Twitter and Facebook – still LEARNING these forums!

Do you have any upcoming events that you would like to share with readers?
MANY! Our Grand Opening is set for June 13, 2009 10-5pm – several authors, artisans, musicians and other talented individuals will be participating in the day’s events. Storytimes and bookclubs begin in June and our summer program schedule will be available shortly – art classes, kids yoga, literary circles, summer reading camps, writing workshops and young authors clubs are just to name a few!

What is your favorite thing to do when you aren’t at Monkey See Monkey Do?
Spending time with my family – we love the water and beach! I also love to run, read, cook and garden.
